    If the Greek State had given the Marbles to the British State as an exchange of something now, you would be “right”‘ to say it’s not our property anymore. But the British ‘Lord”‘ Elgin, a predictable thief, removed them from the Parthenon even as Greece was under the Ottoman Occupation. This is THEFT! Btw, the Marbles are not called elginian marbles (that’s a shame), They are the Marbles of Parthenon made by Feidias the Greek!!!

    I be with you that you reckon this way. You don’t like this treasure (the marbles), you just use the fact that people are attracted by them and all your country wants is to get the money of the museum visitors. We Greeks are sentimentally attached to those marbles because we are Greeks and this is our History, our past, our heritage. You can’t feel this thing because you and the History those marbles carry have nothing in common

    Englis press used to accuse Greece that would organise Olympic Games (2004) that would not be safe for the people that would go to Greece to watch them. In the Olympic Stadium Construction Site, when the place was prepared for the Games, the Security arrested english journalists who entered the site secretly to “prove” that the safety measure were not adequate. But we got them everytime they tried to enter this way. And we had the best and SAFEST games ever!

    The massive riots happen in every country. Stop insisting on this issue. There is a group of bastards (who killed the 3 persons in Athens), that does not mean that the Greeks are violent and these things happen everyday.

    i wonder, without the Parthenon Marbles by Feidias, your museum has nothing special to show? Why are you so frightened what will happen if you return them?
    Well, Greece will take them back not by threatening, (besides Greece is always been attacked never attacks or threatens) but from the contribution of all those wonderful people who share our dream and want the marbles back HOME! We will both live to see it.

    It is PURE Hellenic propoerty. It Hellenic heritage. Cultrure, origin. A part of our History. Was Feidias british? Yes, also when a thief steals a precious painting becomes “his property”‘ because he violently (and illegaly) removed it.But it does not belong to him and if the police arrests him, he goes to jail

    @TheBritishWatcher
    Well, normally i should be honored. You are proud of something that is decently Greek. But i prefer to have them back rather than feeling this sick pride

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    Is it British property?

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    But you can’t ignore the fact that something which was removed without our will has to come back. The marbles in the New Acropolis Museum are asking back their other half. Of course Art is the heritage of Humanity but why shouldn’t every kind of Art be admired to the country where it belongs?

    Look. You made me say things i did not want because i know that the majority of British people support the thought of the marbles getting back to Greece. Also not all the British are responsible for the behavior of those childish tourists who don’t behave.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    It is not Greek property.

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    Because they are not yours!
    If Greeks stole something vital to your country and claimed the same that you do now, would you like it? I don’t reckon so

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    It is pure theft. They were removed violently from the Parthenon.

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    Greece is threatening? What are you saying? Is it threat to question back what belongs to you and was stolen violentlly? I don’t reckon you are honest

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    The British contribution to the world is very clear, read a few history books. Quite a few countries today would not exist in their present form if it was not for Britain. The United States of America, Canada, Australia, Israel to name a few.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    Maybe one day they will return to Greece, i dont know. We should not give them back simply because Greece is threatening us.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    Their ownership is disputed, it is not theft.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    I have never said Greece and other european countries have not contributed a huge amount to the world. I just do not accept it when people try to suggest Britain has not contributed to global progress, the prove is clear for all to see.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    Sure there were other influences on what is now the English language, but we do all speak English and be with you each other. That is thanks to the role England and Britain has played in the world.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    I agree we have huge social problems, we do not have the massive riots on the streets like you see in Greece though, we just have drunken youths who need to be dealt with by the law.

  • TheBritishWatcher says:

    We want them, why should we give up something we want?

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    What vital rold have you played in world history?
    Jesus!

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    Who questioned you if you care or not? One day the marbles will turn back to where they belong. You’ll be forced to give them. Wait and you’ll see. And don’t be so cynical you are just an englilsh what do you reckon you are? Someone fantastic? An Italian is greater than you, has much more vital history in his past

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    How proud can you feel when you present to the visitors the Greek treasures that you removed by violence from their place of birth, Athens? I just question this simple thing: How proud can you be being a thief?

  • ath4ever says:

    @TheBritishWatcher
    Greece’s contribution to Art, Philsophy, Democracy, Science and all the noble thoughts is so huge that with this way you reckon, you can’t even imagine. Southern Europe is the cradle of western civilization and your goverments know that so well thus they keep our treasures to your museum. By the way, the words above referred, (words describing those nobles thoughts) are Greek in origin.
