Well considering as how mineral erodes quite easily, this may cause overall blockage in the fish’s gills overtime, so I would not recommend it.

no its not dangreous it’s really recommended.

Not perilous necessarily. It raises the ph amount of acidic tanks because the water dissolves the calcium in the rock. Its fine in basic tanks. I’ve had mineral in my tanks for 4 years. My ph is 8.6. A stable ph between 5-9 is vital for fish, so I suggest you add mineral slowly if your ph is naturally below 7. You don’t want any major swings.

It’s perfectly safe and highly advisable for fish that do best in higher PH, like rift lake cichlids. For most types of fish though, it raises the parameters above the ideal and best to be avoided.

I’m personally opposed as they will dissolve slowly, and raise both your pH, and KH. That said if you have hard water/ high pH loving fish like molly, guppy, swordtails, platty, and the like. And don’t do large water changes. It should be fine. The main issue is that you slowly raise your pH, and KH to a high amount then do a massive water change which brings the pH, and KH levels crashing down. I personally like a bit more control over my water chemisty.

PS- Mineral is very perilous for softwater fish like tetras, Discus, and the like.

As mentioned it is excellent for african rift lake cichlids because they like higher alkalinity water(higher ph ) But most other common aquarium fish are native to South America or Asia .These fish come from frequently acidic to perhaps neutral ph areas. These fish would not do well in a tank with mineral
