Should I put rocks or mulch around my plants?
I have two 6×6 areas in my front yard, one on each side of the porch. My husband wants to fill it in with rocks and use barrels for plants. I want to plant a mixture of hostas, day lilies, echinacea, etc…color! He doesn’t like the wood chips, and I hear rocks are hard to clean out when it starts getting dead leaves and petals. What do you recommend? Any pictures or ideas to share? What about keeping weeds away?

I have mainly neons, and some mollies, and guppies. I would ideally want as few plants and rocks as possible. But will lack of plants and rocks be detrimental to the fish?

I have 1-2 inch rocks around my lawn- we have planted plants and trees in the rock areas. Now I hear that plants and trees will not do very well, that they should be surrounded with mulch instead- is this true?
