Why is the left foot always forward on Greek Sculptures?

In art class we are learning about Greek art. On all the sculptures the left foot is forward. Why not the right? Why is it always the left? My art teacher didn’t know.

The left foot isn’t always forward…. It tends to be usually, but I’ve found some sculptures that have their right foot forward.

The Greeks were inspired by Egyptian sculptures. Egyptian sculptures had one foot slightly to the front too.
